Bike Expo in 24 Hour Town

Amongst the expected zaniness of "24 Hour Town hosted by Tucson Medical Center" there will also be a plethora of goodness available to serve nearly all needs and whimsy.

Bike industry folk, you ask? Heck yes! Check out Fair Wheel Bikes for some magical last-second wrenching. I want to be a riding machine with minimal effort and maximum fun-AKA Strava - will be on hand to get you up to speed. Pre and/or post ride muscle-pleasing perfection with Flagstaff Sports Massage? Yep. And illumination delivered with Light & Motion... We could go on and on but we want serendipitous surprises for you too.

Check out the ever-growing list of sponsors and expo vendors!

Cirrus Visual

Official Event Jersey & Wind Vest Pre-Sales

Does your tired old jersey or wind vest look like it's been hit with an ugly stick? Have we got a humdinger of a deal for you, for just $75 bucks. A collaboration by uber-slick paragons in the graphic design and manufacturing world - Cirrus Visual and Primal Wear - have birthed a must-have custom jersey that received top marks by the Fasionistas and the harder to please Functionistas.

The wildest ride in the Southwest! Click here to purchase.

KXCI Community Radio

KXCI dejay camp fundraiser

Are you a parent? KXCI has got you and your kids covered this summer. KXCI's dj camp will be back again for the 11th odd year to rescue kids from Tucson's scorching summer blues. Parents, you can email Amanda@kxci.org for more info. Sign-ups begin in late March and fill fast so plan accordingly.

For the umpteenth year in a row KXCI dj's will also be spinning inspiring sounds for this years' 24 Hour event personal soundtrack. Don't forget to tune in at your campsite to rock around the clock (all 24 hours of it) at 105.7 fm. Or, stream 91.3 KXCI from the web no matter where you are, and at any time.

Stan's Notubes

Stan's Notubes - A Desert Necessity

Topless at Carnival in Rio? Of course. Makes about as much sense to go tubeless in the Southwest with all the spikes, spicules and spiny penetrators... But Wait - Stan's Notubes is way more than amazing tubeless and tire accessories... They have nearly everything to trick out your ride from bearings to full custom wheel sets, soft goods... A racer's fave is the Raven 29 by 2.2 Sick grip, less resistance = superior speed potential and less crashing carnage. Simply air down if conditions get a bit slick. With Notubes you will be crushing.

Volunteers needed

It takes a village... Are any family and friends joining you on you desert pilgrimage to the Old Pueblo? If so have 'em sign up to help with the ongoing demands to effect harmonious sublimity. With a temporary mountain biking desert utopia there are many needs to attend to, so if they want their own piece of the action have them contact Sallye Williams at swilliams@epicrides.com to enter the respected ranks of the much-loved volunteer.

This Month in Bicycling History:

-First circumnavigation of globe
via bike circa 1974-
Polar engineers Joe Barthelemy and [Tucson resident] Frank Brier smuggled [due to strict weight restrictions] a fully disassembled bicycle in their Antarctic gear. After reassembly, they pedaled over the nearly 10,000-foot thick polar ice sheet, circling all 24-hour time zones at the South Pole, just days after its "precise" position had been staked by the U.S. National Geodetic Survey.

Got a cool, quixotic biking adventure?

Share it by emailing Epic Rides - If we pick your story of 150 words or less you will win fabulous prizes from our amazing sponsors.
